mens section

The mens section is responsible for organising the mens competitions and the mens club matches.  There are a diverse range of ages, abilities and handicaps.  There are roll-ups throughout the week and matches against many of the nearby clubs.

If you want to improve your golf then join a club!

It's a widely known fact that the best way to improve your golf is to enter a competition and put a card in your hand! You might be a good society player but, as a club player, you'll learn to minimise your mistakes and tighten your game. The mens section have monthly medals and staplefords, as well as regular boarded competitions. In May we have the Champion of Champions event, where all of the qualifiers have earned their place by winning, or coming second, in one of the previous years competitions. The prize? Free membership for the following year!

I joined a club and realised…

The more I practiced the luckier I got!

As well as regular medal and stableford competitions there are team matches against other nearby clubs.  We also enter a team into the prestigious Hillman Cup and our team has reached the final of the plate competition in 2018 and 2019.  There are regular roll-ups throughout the year:-

FridayMany friendly informal groups go out on Friday’s. Ask around for more details.
SaturdayTwo groups play on Saturday. One starting at 9am the other at 1pm or 12noon in winter, again partners are drawn so it is a good way to meet and play with new people. The 9am roll-up is often popular with the lower-handicappers and the 1pm roll-up is well attended.
SundayThere are two roll-ups, 7.45am and 8.30am. There’s often a ‘Captains challenge’ where the Captain and Vice Captain throw down a challenge to another pair but they still compete in the roll-up.
